Rossmann, Burgwedel (Germany)
The new high bay warehouse for the drugstore chain Rossmann gives an impressive demonstration of what performance can be achieved with efficient warehouse automation:
In the warehouse complex, which is 127 m long and 30 m high, there is room for 13,000 Euro pallets on 20 levels to enable the efficient handling of up to 40 trucks a day (approx. 1,000 pallets).
A transport system, which is controlled by a central material flow computer, automatically stores each pallet in the right place.
This is possible thanks to barcodes on each of the 9,500 items.
